Wednesday, July 15 Siyeh Pass

High clouds in the a.m. but it looked MUCH better than the previous few days so we decided to stick with the plan to do Siyeh. We took the shuttle bus from the St. Mary visitor center to Siyeh Bend. I called Jack from the shuttle buses, he loves them…he was happy to have me call from there.

We started out at the beautiful Siyeh Bend on Going To The Sun Road.

Siyeh was a very nice hike. There was a ranger in Preston Park filming segments for a possible new “Ehike” on the Glacier website.

I succeeded in staying dry during the river crossing

and continued up to the pass. It’s steep…very steep…but very pretty and the steep part doesn’t last that long.

The views from the top are beautiful, and I like the huge rock cairn that everyone adds to.

Almost to Siyeh Pass
The hike down was very different, starting out very close to Sexton Glacier.

We think we found wolverine scat on a snowfield…that was cool! No tracks though.

Jack Gladstone called that afternoon and told me about his show he was doing down at East Glacier that night with his friend Kendall Flint. That was all I needed to hear…off to East Glacier I went (after dinner). Bill and Therese went with. It was a really fun show that he was doing to thank the doctors from Chicago who were doing work on the reservation, at no charge.

Jack and Kendall complement each other so well. It was fun to hear them do some different things like Beatles songs. Jack’s shows are never the same twice and are always good but this one was REALLY good and well worth going! Drivng back, we had to try to avoid hitting the horses that were loose all over on the Starr School Road!
